The Wood River Valley in Sun Valley has become a mountain biker's paradise. The
Wood River Valley Trail System features over 30 miles of paved trails from
Bellevue in the South, to areas well north of Ketchum, and to Sun Valley and
Elkhorn to the east.

Mountain biking in Sun Valley is also available by riding the lifts with your
mountain bike to the Top of Baldy! Go Hiking, Sightseeing, or Mountain Biking!
The Outdoor Grill at Lookout Restaurant, on top of the Mountain will be open
daily from 11am - 2:30pm. If you can bike to the top you get a FREE ride down!

Golfing

Golfing in Sun Valley ranges from premium nine-hole courses, to Sun Valley's
most exclusive Golf Club, the Sun Valley Golf Club. There are four golf courses
in the area: two 18-hole Robert Trent Jones courses at Sun Valley and Elkhorn,
and two 9-hole courses: Bigwood and Warm Springs. (Bigwood is double-teed to
play 18 holes.) As well as the Valley Club. Most courses require that reservations made over 48 hours in
advance be pre-paid.

Bigwood Golf course is a premium nine-hole golf course, surrounded by stunning
views of the three adjacent mountain ranges. Designed by world famous architect
Robert Muir Graves, it offers four sets of tees, allowing players of all levels

Rafting in Sun Valley, A Mecca of Whitewater {back to top}
The Salmon River to the north and Snake River to the south are whitewater
meccas, surrounding Sun Valley, draw rafting and kayaking enthusiasts from
around the west. Difficulties range from beginner to advanced levels. Guided
trips can be arranged through many local outfitters, and can also be set up for
rentals of rafts, inflatable kayaks and other gear. A summer visit to Sun Valley

Hiking {back to top}
Idaho has nine 12,000-foot
summits and 91 more peaks over 11,000 feet, including many in our area. To the
north of the Wood River Valley lie the rugged granite peaks and alpine lakes of
the Sawtooth Range. One favorite climb is Mt. Heyburn at 10,200 feet. To the
southwest are the Soldier Mountains, which have long serpentine valleys and
grass-covered ridges. Both the 10,095-foot Smoky Dome and 9,694-foot Iron
Mountain are exceptional scrambling climbs. Another good climb is Hyndman Peak
at 11,775 feet in the Pioneer Mountains. Guidebooks can be bought from
Iconoclast and Chapter One Bookstores in Ketchum.
