Fly Sun
Valley
With no prior experience, you can soar the skies over Sun Valley with a
professional USHGA certified tandem pilot. Ages have ranged from 5 - 85,
virtually anyone can fly!
Skating
The world famous rink at the Sun Valley Lodge is open to the public every day
except when performances are taking place. Skate rentals are available for all
ages. The ice rink is the site of the Sun Valley Summer Ice Shows. If you have
your own skates, the skating pond at Atkinson Park is available at no charge and
provides a children's hockey program.

Sledding
This longtime favorite winter activity offers a good low-cost way to enjoy
winter excitement. Try Penny Mountain next to the intersection of Sun Valley and
Saddle roads for a great sledding experience. Sleds are available from Chateaux
Drug in Ketchum.

Snowmobiling
Both guided and unguided trips are available. For a spectacular unguided trip,
we recommend visiting the spectacular Sawtooth Basin about an hour's drive north
of Ketchum. Take advantage of over 160 miles of groomed trails for all
abilities.

Dog Sledding Adventures
True western fun, being whisked over the snow in a dog sled. Various trip
available: 1.5 hours, half day, full day and overnight.
Sun Valley Soaring
For an exhilarating 30-40 minutes glide over Sun Valley! Sun Valley Soaring has
been operating safely for 20 years and offers three types of glider rides: the
mellow morning Baldy ride, the exciting afternoon soaring ride, and
awe-inspiring extended mountain ride. Our three-place glider can accommodate two

Skiing
Local guides can introduce you to telemark and randonee skiing, where endurance
and stamina are the keys to getting to deep, fresh powder. The many miles of
mountains surrounding Sun Valley provide an almost unlimited number of places to
truly get away from it all.

Cat Skiing
Soldier Mountain Resort, about one-hour's drive to the southwest of Sun Valley,
offers both lift and cat skiing. Cat ski trips begin with orientation and
equipment check, followed by a trip to the 9,500 feet level for several runs
ranging from 900 to 2,700 feet. Fat Boy and hourglass shaped ski rentals are
available. Lunch and end-of-the-day champagne are included. Non-skiers can take
in 3-hour lunch or twilight tours of the high country in the comfort of the
snowcats.

Heli Skiing
Sun Valley Heli-Ski has over 30 years experience of providing aerial access to
over 750 square miles of backcountry skiing. The company promotes a small guide
to guest ratio of 1 to 4 giving guests custom adventures tailored to each group.

Nordic Skiing
Miles of groomed trails in and around the Sun Valley are easily accessible.
Galena Lodge is 24 miles North of Ketchum on Highway 75 and is a great starting
point for Nordic skiers and snowshoers with equipment rental, instructors and
refreshments available.

Snowboarding
Baldy is one of the most snowboarder-friendly mountains in the west. The
Northern Rockies, cold snow and Sun Valley's impeccable grooming lead
snowboarders to hard boots, narrow boards and an aggressive carving style.
Snowboard lessons are available through the Sun Valley Ski School. Soldier
Mountain to the south is also open to snowboarders.

Suns Ice Hockey
Sun Valley's own hockey team plays semi-pro teams from around the country every
Friday and Saturday night at the indoor Sun Valley Ice Rink. The Suns season
usually runs from late December through late March
